Artist Biography

Seoidín O'Sullivan is an artist, educator, and interdisciplinary researcher based in Dublin. Her collaborative practice brings communities together to protect and reimagine the commons, exploring the relationships between people, place, and ecology. These projects are realised through drawing, installation, video, publications, walks, and pedagogical exchange.

She works within the field of Critical Ecologies, using participatory, socially engaged methods with the multidisciplinary teams she collaborates with to reveal ecological systems and build collective imaginaries towards just multi-species futures.

Seoidín lectures in Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin. She co-leads the Postgraduate Diploma in Art and Ecology, teaches Sustainable Exhibition Making with the Creative Futures Academy, and lectures in Critical Cultures and First Year Studies. Her teaching centres on embodied practice, experiential learning, and collective making.

Her work has shown nationally and internationally, including The Sky is Falling (Ormston House, 2024), Corncrake Dollar (EVA International, 2023), and Holdings (Solstice Arts Centre, 2023). A 2023 residency at Dún Laoghaire Baths produced Sea Salon, a collective project drawing on the writings of Rachel Carson. She was also a contributor to Mapping Green Dublin (2022), a collaboration with UCD Geography and Common Ground mapping Dublin's tree canopy.

Seoidín grew up in Kitwe, Zambia, and later lived in Durban, South Africa, experiences that continue to inform her artistic practice and pedagogical approach. She completed a Fine Art degree in Durban in 2000 and a Master's in Fine Art at NCAD (2005–2007), followed by postgraduate qualifications in Third Level Teaching and Learning (2010) and International Development Studies (2004).
